Blackmagic continues to roll out impressive updates to their iOS app which with V2.0 now includes wireless remote camera control on iPhone and/or iPad.
This is a feature a lot of people have been asking for, especially those who used FiLMiC Remote (via FiLMIC Pro). And now it's here.
I gotta say it pains me some to write this as I was a diehard FiLMiC Pro user, but now that Blackmagic offers a wireless remote I don't really see much reason to keep FiLMIC Pro around.
The only thing I use it for now is when shooting with the Beastgrip DOF adapter as FiLMiC Pro does seem to have better focus peaking. But that's a pretty niche thing and so not sure it's worth the subscription price unless you do a lot of DOF stuff (it's challenging to use with Blackmagic I've found).
The other noteworthy updates in V2.0 are you can now select all clips in the media library to transfer or delete them, and you can also now shoot 100FPS (in HD) with an iPhone 15 Pro. Although this last one confuses me as I have been able to shoot 120FPS on my 15 Pro Max for as long as I've had the Blackmagic app. And this is only in HEVC HD and the Rec 709 color space (not Apple log). So perhaps this wasn't available before on non Max iPhones? Again, I'm not sure. And it doesn't work in ProRes or Apple log.
My recommendation is to shoot 4K 60FPS anyway and use ProRes and Apple log. Then if you want a slower motion look, use a third-party app like Topaz Labs or Twixtor to do the slowmo in post. The HEVC HD slowmo in the app looks mushy to me and can often have compression artifacts.

Have you tried the new wireless remote control yet? If so, what do you think? Let me know in the comments below or hit me up on YouTube.
Happy filmmaking!
